Were your father to be alive, would he have
supported this?

I think my father, the late MKO Abiola, would have
supported me and would have been quite tickled
by the whole thing. He loved proverbs and music;
therefore, what I am doing is not strange. He loved
to sing and was in a band. He often sang at
weddings and as a school boy in Abeokuta. I have fond memories of him singing, "The Beatles" songs
in the kitchen. This must have been a relic from the
time when he was studying to become an
accountant in Scotland. I am not relying on my
family name to gain acceptance. Many people have
known me on the music circuit for a year now and don't even know my family background. It is
something I never bring up and this is the first time
I'm discussing it in an interview. I am proud of
whom I am but as I don't want to trade on it, I
simply never mention it. I'm not very comfortable
discussing it, even now.

CSOs Call For Justice In Case of Police Officer Rape Of Four-Year Old Girl In Plateau State

Two civil society organizations, the Christian Foundation for Social Justice and Equity (CFSJE) and the United Action for Democracy (UAD), have condemned in the strongest terms what they called the unethical, unprofessional, criminal, callous and inhuman behaviour of some officers of the Special Task Force (STF) in Plateau State.
In a joint statement today, the groups said that a Police Officer attached to Sector 7 of the STF in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state wickedly raped a four year old minor, and that the Commandant has confirmed the incident as well as the transfer of the suspect to the Police Headquarters in Jos for prosecution.
“The victim was subsequently rushed to the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi to stop the severe bleeding and given general treatments,” the statement said.  “The unholy act of this Police Officer has no doubt exposed the innocent kid and family to serious psychological trauma and Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STDs) including but not limited to the deadly Human Immuno-Defiency Virus and Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS).”

Corporate Affairs Commission Under Fire in 100 Million Naira Legal Suit

The questionable legal practices in the field of incorporating new businesses, the non-tracing of customer files, name search delays, equipment breakdowns on purpose, and the denial of an accredited customer the right the make a living, is just part of numerous claims in a 100 million naira lawsuit filed in Abuja.
The target here is the Corporate Affairs Commission, an agency set-up to help new businesses, and industries, flourish in Nigeria. The lawsuit paints a disturbing picture of just how the agency does just the opposite.
The lawsuit, filed by Ashimole Felix Chukwuma, in the Federal High Court Holden in Abuja, lists more than 25 accounts of offenses in the Statement of Claim. SaharaReporters obtained a copy of the complaint shortly after it was lodged. The lawsuit targets two officials inside the mammoth agency who Felix Chukwuma said, has had him blocked, stopped, and even arrested, while trying to gain answers to questions over delays, non-responses to his customer queries, and overall poor service.
Felix Chukwuma is a legal practitioner with a ten-year post representing numerous Nigerian firms going through the incorporation and registering process. He has been an accredited customer of the Corporate Affairs Commission dating back to 2006. He also comes with an impressive track record of firms he has represented for long periods, including, Bashorn Holdings Limited, and the NigerBash Properties Company.
As such, the filing of this lawsuit from a prominent member of the small business community not only raises eyebrows in the sector, but also, draws unwanted attention to an agency that prefers to operate out of the headlines.

N416 Scam: Court Refuses Request To Defer Fayose’s Trial Over Guber Ambition… Admits More Exhibits Against Ex-Gov

A Federal High Court sitting in Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Thursday, March 27, 2014 refused the request by the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Part in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose to delay his trial to enable him concentrate in prosecuting his gubernatorial ambition.
Fayose, a former governor of the state is standing trial for allegedly misappropriating state funds to the tune of N416million during his tenure. At the resumed hearing on Thursday, counsel to the former governor, Mr. Raji Ahmed, SAN prayed the court to adjourn the matter till the first week in July to allow his client to concentrate on his electoral campaign as the candidate of the PDP in the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state; arguing that the accused must be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The request was however turned down by Justice Adamu Hobon, after a strong objection by Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, counsel to EFCC, who said that, an accelerated hearing of the matter would help Fayose. According to him, “It would be in the interest of the accused person, so that his people can make up their mind about him and his name cleared before the election”.
Justice Hobon, thereafter, adjourned the matter till May 6, 2014 for continuation of trial.
Before the matter was adjourned, the court admitted eight documents tendered as exhibits by the prosecution.
The documents admitted included Certificate of Identification of Biological Concept Nigeria Limited; Account Statement of Biological Concept Nigeria Limited; Account Opening document of Biological Concept Limited; Account Statement of Avians Specialties Nigeria Limited and Account Opening document of Avians Specialties- all with Skye Bank Plc.  Others are Certificate of Account of People's Democratic Party, Ekiti state at Keystone Bank, the Account Opening form of the party and Statement of Account.

Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection
with a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Obtaining

Yoruba fluently. His last known address is No. 1
O tunba Adeniyi Street, Papa-Epe, Lagos'', the
statement read.
