Police discover 13 bombs in Kano mosque

There was pandemonium on Friday at about 2pm as the police discovered 13 explosive devices planted in a mosque
in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

UN sanctions Boko Haram leader, Shekau, Ansaru

The United Nations Security Council has sanctioned Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, and a splinter group, Ansaru on Wednesday. According to Reuters, Shekau is the first individual while Ansaru is the first entity to be so sanctioned since the Islamist militant group was blacklisted.

A ghastly motor accident which occurred this morning on Lagos-Ibadan express way has left six people dead and many injured. It also led to heavy traffic between Kara and Berger, a part of the highway.

Reports have it that some residents of Kano state have taken to the streets to protest the announcement of Nigeria's former Central Bank Governor, Lamido Sanusi Lamido as the new Emir of Kano.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Abdullahi Bayero, who started serving at the age of 33 was reported dead this morning at the age of 83.
