Justin Bieber was lucky enough to have a personal
FaceTime chat with inspirational teenage education activist Malala Yousafzai recently. The 20-year-old "Boyfriend" singer took to Instagram yesterday to share a photo of his virtual chat with the 17- year-old Pakistani activist, who was nearly killed by the
Taliban in 2012 when she was shot in the head for
campaigning for women's education.
"Just got to FaceTime with Malala Yousafzai," the Biebs captioned the screenshot, which shows a smiling Yousafzai. "She has such an incredible story. I can't wait to meet her in person and talk about how I can support her and the @malalafund. #love."
No word on what the two talked about, but we can only imagine the young stars are mutual fans.
Since the Taliban's failed assassination attempt on
Yousafzai and her recovery, she's become a worldwide icon for her courage and activism. She won Pakistan's first National Youth Peace Prize and was also nominated for the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize (the youngest person ever to be nominated for the honor).
It's easy to understand why Yousafzai has garnered a following of celeb fans. Reese Witherspoon was even spotted the other day carrying a brochure for the Malala Fund, Yousafzai's charity which aims to help girls go to school and raise their voices for their rights to education.
