Boardwalk Empire to End After Season 5, Game of Thrones Season 4 Premiere Date Revealed



Game of Thrones' highly anticipated fourth season will kick off Sunday, April 6, at 9 p.m., HBO announced on Thursday at the 2014 Winter TCA Press Tour in Pasadena. And fans can get their first taste of season four when the trailer debuts this Sunday, Jan. 12, on HBO before the premiere of their new drama True Detective.
In addition to announcing GOT's return date, the network revealed that Boardwalk Empire will end after season five, which will air in the fall.
"It has been an incredible honor to bring this powerful and groundbreaking series to our subsrcribers," HBO president Michael Lombardo said in a statement. "Terry Winter has created one for the ages."



Series creator Terence Winter added, "We're thrilled to get the go-ahead for a fifth season of Boardwalk Empire. After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we've decided to wrap up the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion."
Other announcements from HBO's session included the season three return date of Veep, which stars Emmy Award winners Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale, (Sunday, April 6, at 10 p.m.) and Vice's season two premiere, Friday, March 11.
And Glee and American Horror Story mastermind Ryan Murphy's highly anticipated film The Normal Heart, which stars Mark Ruffalo, Julia Roberts, Matt Bomer and Taylor Kitsch, will air in May.
