Activists, Community Pay Final Respects To Renowned Student Activist Segun Okeowo

The remains of late former National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) president Segun Okeowo has been taken to his country home, Aluta Compound, Simawa, Sagamu where on Friday thousands of people will gather for his final  burial.
Well-wishers danced and cheered on Wednesday as a car bearing Comrade Segun Okeowo coffin made its way from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital  to his country home in Sagamu. The body of the renowned student activist of the "Ali Must go" era was accompanied by some officials of a now largely compromised National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
Our correspondent said the mood was one of excitement and jubilation, tinged with sadness.
"Many of the people that I spoke to said they were just happy that he was coming home. Everywhere you turned, there was singing and dancing and just impromptu songs with his name in it,  mostly  songs. Songs that were adapted with his name" .

The former NUNS leader died January 28 following a brief illness.
