SAD NEWS! Man jumps to his death from 4 storey building! [GRAPHIC PHOTOS]

Residents OF Adum in Kumasi, Ghana were on Thursday morning greeted with the terrifying news of a man jumping to his death from a tall building.

The young man from Amoaman near Barekese jumped to his death from the third floor of a four-storey building at Adum.

The victim, who was identified as Nana Osei aka Naasei by the wife of his elder brother, Vida Sarpong, was believed to be in his late 20s.

He jumped from the balcony of the building which houses the Subin branch of the National Health Insurance office, a church and several stores at about 9:35am, an eyewitness, Benjamin Mireku told DAILY GUIDE at the scene.

He disclosed that the victim hit one Dauda Alhassan, a refuse collector, on his way down before landing on the ground and crashing his head to death, forcing shocked shoppers to flee in panic.

The paper gathered that the victim had earlier attended the funeral of one Isaac Osei at Asafo and appeared tipsy shortly before the incident.

He died instantly after he jumped from the top floor of the building when people were busily doing their businesses in the boisterous area.

The refuse collector sustained some injuries and was later taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police crime scene investigators were at the scene to carry out preliminary investigations into the incident.

They later carried away the body and deposited it at a morgue.

Police spokesman Stg. Godwin Ahianyo described it as a tragic incident, indicating that the death could be very stressful for many people.

According to him, police investigations would focus on how the man came to fall from the building to determine whether it was suicide, accident or murder.

The refuse collector, Dauda Alhassan, told us he was co-operating with police investigators and his thoughts were with the dead man’s family.

It was learnt that the victim, an unemployed man, was the son of Kwame Kwakye aka Apigy, the Subin Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

What prompted the young man to end his life in that awkward manner could not be immediately ascertained.

The deceased did not leave behind any note explaining why he decided to leave the world in that dreadful manner. This however gave room for speculation, with all sorts of theories being propounded.

While some thought it was suicide, others attributed the incident to accident caused by drunkenness, since the deceased allegedly reeked of alcohol.

Most people at the scene however linked his death to the harsh economic situation in the country.

When we visited the scene, store keepers had abandoned their wares just to catch a glimpse of the deceased who was lying motionless in a pool of blood.

The women among the thick crowd were seen shedding tears for the deceased. People in the area told the paper that they had not seen him in the neighbourhood before.

“I was inside my store attending to a customer when suddenly I heard a deafening sound. I became terrified so I rushed outside only to find the man lying in a pool of blood,” a store keeper at the area said.

The store keeper, who Pleaded to remain anonymous, said he had not sighted the deceased in the area before, noting that he was shocked about the weird manner in which the deceased chose to end his life.
