Thinnest (and lightest) large tablets

Even if your tablet appreciation never deviates from pragmatic, functionality concerns, you'll at least have to admit that a thin tablet has its advantages. Thin tablets are usually sleeker, sexier, and easier to handle. Also, their relative girth does not necessarily preclude them from including plenty of useful connections.
By their nature of being so thin, all tablets on this list are also the lightest on the market. I've gone only with large tablets -- 8.9 inches and above -- and to keep things relevant have limited the pool only to 2013 tablets...for now.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
Sure it's the heaviest tablet on the list, but at a weight of only 1.18 pounds, the Note 10.1 2014 Edition is still one of the lightest large tablets around. The high-end tablet also features a vibrantly rich screen, and its innovative stylus-based interface further sets it apart from any other non-Note slate. Check out the full review here.


Sony Xperia Tablet Z
The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is one of the thinnest and lightest tablet we've seen. It struts a superthin profile with a sharp 10-inch 1,920x1,200-pixel-resolution screen and houses a quad-core Qualcomm processor. The Xperia Z isn't afraid to get its hair wet, either. It can be dunked up to three feet underwater for 30 minutes.

The iPad Air is the thinnest, lightest full-size iPad yet, with paper-thin bezels that really add to its refined premium look and feel.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9
It's amazing just how light the Fire HDX 8.9 feels in my hand. While the iPad Air is indeed light and has a larger screen than the 8.9, Amazon's newest, latest, best tablet is 20 percent lighter than the Air. It also packs in a higher resolution, comparable thinness, dual cameras, and great battery life.
